"A LIFE IN PARTS"
The Italian (from Cassino to Rome)
Maurizio's acting journey starts in a small town named Cassino, just south of Rome. With a clear creative mindset, he is relatively shy and introspective. A silent observer since early age, he spends most of his time watching, studying and doing reenactments of scenes from American movies, especially mafia themed and starring actors of the caliber of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
After relocating to Rome, at the age of 18, to attend University, he auditioned and joined the renowned Beatrice Bracco Academy, stepping into the Stanislavsky and Strasberg method. He lands his first theater roles in classics such as "The Glass Menagerie", "California Suite", "Three Sisters" and "A Streetcar Named Desire". Parallel to this, he began working in TV (RAI) and later approached ADR for Italian films, studying for many years under historic supervisor and prominent director Maestro Mario Maldesi, lending his voice to a variety of film, documentaries and television credits.
The City of Angels
After 7 years in Rome, Maurizio relocates to Los Angeles in 2008, where he is accepted into the acclaimed Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre, home to stars such as Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Benicio Del Toro, Mark Ruffalo. A new long, exciting and difficult journey begins. Well known among the Stella community, his theater credits include Words, Words, Words”, “Welcome to the Moon”, “Sure Thing”, “California Suite”, "Small Days", “Waiting for Lefty” (directed by Jim Parrack), “Romeo and Juliet”, “Easy Chair”, “The Laramie Project”, "The Cherry Orchard", and "Midsummer Night’s Dream” in which he stands out as the most effective comic player in the troupe, in the iconic role of Nick Bottom.
After 5 years at the prestigious Stella Adler facility, Maurizio begins a substantial "long-term" collaboration with Multi-Award winning writer and director Martin Donovan at Playhouse West, with whom he is introduced to the basics of Meisner Technique. He also collaborates with many students through the NYFA and UCLA programs and acquires several voice over and film supporting credits till landing his first main role in the movie "Accidental Muse", written by the talented Ziad Saliba and directed by the indie prodigy Roana Wullinger.
The Big Apple
To further master his craft in the business, Maurizio makes a move to New York in 2014, auditioning and joining the prestigious William Esper Studio, where he gratefully explores the Meisner Technique at its best, under remarkable coach William Esper. Two long changeling and remarkable years solidifies an already natural chemistry between the two, evolving in a long-lasting love/hate relationship, based on profound respect and devotion.
Hungry for more, Maurizio decides to focus on further academic development, self-knowledge and empowerment, joining Terry Schreiber at the T. Schreiber Studio, where he studies for a year, pulling together and combining years of tools/knowledge, resulting in lovely performances on stage ("Snakebit" & "Burn This").
In the last year, he has been focusing more and more on Casting Directors workshops and seminars and he has been studying with Audition Coach Tim Phillips, author of a remarkable tool for the actor "Audition for Your Career, Not the Job". He is also currently studying under Speech Pathologist Susan Sankin.
