Maurizio Di Meo is an Italian-American actor and director whose work bridges two continents and several acting traditions. A dual citizen of the United States and the European Union and a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Maurizio is recognised for performances that combine emotional depth with razor-sharp craft.
He began his journey in Rome at Teatro Blu under the legendary Beatrice Bracco, mentor to many of Italy’s most celebrated performers. Parallel studies with master dubbing director Mario Maldesi—collaborator of Visconti, Kubrick and Fellini—sharpened his ear for rhythm and text.
Seeking broader horizons, Maurizio moved to the United States. At Los Angeles’ Stella Adler Academy he absorbed the technique that shaped Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro; in New York he trained directly with William “Bill” Esper at the William Esper Studio, considered one of the nation’s premier Meisner programmes. Further coaching with Tony Award–winning director Terry Schreiber (Edward Norton) and Oscar-winning producer and acting teacher Milton Justice (Mark Ruffalo) refined his commitment to truthful, moment-to-moment work.
Now based in Italy, Maurizio continues to split his time between stage and screen. In 2024 he played one of the leading roles in Bernard-Marie Koltès’s blistering drama Roberto Zucco, directed by acclaimed actor Francesco Montanari, a collaboration that showcased his physical intensity and psychological nuance. As a director-educator he is currently leading a workshop on Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, blending Adler-style textual analysis with Meisner-based spontaneity to nurture a new generation of performers.
Driven by an endless curiosity for human stories, Maurizio brings discipline, cultural fluency and a cinematic eye to every project. He works fluently in English and Italian, is comfortable on set or in live performance, and actively mentors emerging talent through masterclasses across Europe and the United States. Producers value his calm leadership; audiences remember the truth he puts onstage.
