Maurizio Di Meo is an internationally trained actor and director, renowned for his deep and compelling performances that have earned him acclaim both in the United States and across Europe. Holding dual citizenship (USA and European Union) and as a member of the prestigious Screen Actors Guild of America (SAG-AFTRA), Maurizio stands as a prominent figure within the international artistic community.
His artistic path began in Rome at the renowned Teatro Blu, under the mentorship of celebrated Argentine actress and director Beatrice Bracco, who has trained some of Italy’s most acclaimed actors, including Paola Cortellesi, Kim Rossi Stuart, Claudia Gerini, and Claudio Santamaria. During these formative years, Maurizio also studied voice dubbing with Maestro Mario Maldesi, a legendary figure known for his collaborations with directors such as Visconti, Fellini, Kubrick, and Mel Brooks.
Driven by a passion for acting and a desire for broader artistic development, Maurizio continued his training in the United States. He studied at the prestigious Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre in Los Angeles, a legendary institution that has shaped icons such as Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, and Mark Ruffalo. He then honed his technique at the renowned William Esper Studio in New York, considered one of the top MFA programs in the country. At the Esper Studio, Maurizio had the privilege of studying directly with its founder, William “Bill” Esper, one of the most influential first-generation teachers of the Meisner Technique, known for having trained actors such as John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell.
While in New York, Maurizio further enriched his skills under Broadway Tony Award-winning director Terry Schreiber, founder of the T. Schreiber Studio, where actors like Edward Norton refined their craft. He also received long-term training from Milton Justice, Academy Award-winning producer and respected acting teacher, author of I Don’t Need an Acting Class, based on the legendary teachings of Stella Adler. This mentorship profoundly shaped Maurizio’s interpretive style, rooted in emotionally authentic and truthful performance.
Now based in Italy, Maurizio continues to broaden his artistic journey. He is currently working under the guidance of acclaimed actor Francesco Montanari (Romanzo Criminale, Il Cacciatore), who directed him in a leading role in his directorial stage debut, the intense drama Roberto Zucco by Bernard-Marie Koltès, staged in May 2024. This production further showcased Maurizio’s versatility and emotional depth as a performer.
In parallel with acting, Maurizio is also engaged in directing and theatrical education. One of his most recent projects is a comprehensive workshop centered on Samuel Beckett’s timeless masterpiece Waiting for Godot, which will be staged at Teatro Antigone in Rome during the second weekend of October. This workshop explores Adler-based textual analysis techniques and practical Meisner-style reaction exercises, reflecting his deep commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering emerging talent.
Maurizio Di Meo’s career is marked by his tireless pursuit of excellence in performance and his genuine passion for theatrical and cinematic storytelling, making him a respected and influential figure in today’s performing arts landscape.
